The Most Amazing Five-Minute Manicure

I was lucky enough to receive an Influenster Vox Box this month, and couldn’t wait to open it up when it arrived in the mail.  First of all, the box was delivered in the cutest spring shade of green ever so I was super excited right from the start.  It’s the little things!  Haha.

There were a lot of interesting and useful items in the box, but I was mostly drawn to the Kiss Everlasting French Nails.  Truth be told – I am NOT a self-manicurist.  Ever since I received my first professional manicure all those years ago, I was hooked.  And can I just mention.. shellac?!  Love at first sight m’ladies.  However, I often don’t have the money lying around to get my nails *did* every couple of weeks.

Another truth – I’ve always been terrified of these box nail sets.  You want my clumsy self to glue some plastic onto my fingernails AND expect it to look good?  Plus, I loved professional manicures (see above) so why would I even make the attempt?!  Enter Influenster Vox Box.  The second I saw the Kiss Everlasting French Nails set, I knew that I had to throw all my really valid fears aside and give it a shot.

Boy, am I impressed.  Not only did the nails only take five minutes to apply, but the process was simple and easy even for a clumsy girl like myself.  Plus, they look dang good!  AmIRight?  I don’t know how long they will last, but they are holding up pretty well so far.  (I currently have them on while typing this blog post.). The true test will be CrossFit.. lol.  I’ll keep you posted on that one.  Otherwise, if you are looking for a quick and dirty manicure, without heading to the nail salon, definitely check out Kiss Everlasting French Nails.

Other items in my Vox Box included the following:

  • Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara – They must have known that I’m still on the hunt for the perfect mascara!  I’ve been eyeing the Rimmel commercials lately, and honestly put this brand on my mental list to check out next so I was super excited to see it in the box!
  • Peach Pie Car Freshener from the Labor Day Movie – I’m also in desperate of a car air freshener so yay to the Labor Day Movie for sending one in peach pie scent.  I’m excited to see the movie, which looks like a cute and simple chick flick for one of the upcoming hot summer days :)
  • Playtex Sport Fresh Balance – Umm yes – it’s always necessary to have these on hand!
  • NIVEA Skin Firming Hydration Lotion – I love these small-size lotions because I can easily throw them in my purse or work bag for when I need to moisturize on-the-go!

GlamST!:: Try Your Makeup Before You Buy

I was lucky enough to receive an early invite to GlamST, which is a fun new website designed to allow users (like you!) test out new makeup products.  This sounds like an odd concept, until you log into their site and check out their awesomeness.  I was pleasantly surprised by how easy and fun it was to use this site, and test new products.  I’ve even found a few items that I’d be interested in buying!

Once you join GlamST (for free!), the first step is to create a profile by choosing your eye color, hair color, skin type and skin tone.  Preferably, you can upload a photo of yourself, although there are some parameters to doing so.  The photo must be 400×500 and primarily of your face.  If GlamST becomes a vital tool in your beauty toolkit (which why wouldn’t it?!), I recommend having someone take a photo of you in natural light, and uploading it.

Since I didn’t have a blown up picture of my face, I proceeded with one of the model head shots.  We look kinda similar… amIright?!  The first thing that I noticed are the different categories of beauty products – Face, Eyes & Lips – and all the easy ways to navigate to the products.

Next, I obviously tried out the Stila Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner.  I’ve never owned liquid eyeliner, primarily because it scares me and I have no idea how to apply it to my eyes.  What if I apply it inappropriately – and attract a ton of attractive, successful and funny male suitors?  I mean.. what would I do then??!  But, seriously, I was hooked on GlamST after this first product test.  Not only did they teach me how to use liquid eye liner appropriately, but that girl (my pseudo face) looks dang hot.  I need this ASAP.

Then, I tested out some airspray foundations – cool concept I’ve heard of before, but never bought for myself.   I think the Dior product is a little pricey for me, but I liked that I was able to test out which shade is best for my skin tone (or at least my model’s) ;) Note the differences in the top and bottom pics!

A fun pick was this beige lipstick by Dior.  I’ve been seeing beige in all the mags (magazines, duh) lately, and thought it might look good.

Finally, I added a touch of mascara and voila! My pseudo face is all ready for a night on the town.  Meow!

Also important to note that each of the products come with full descriptions and how the product can be used!

And you can even save each of your looks!

How awesome is GlamST?!!  Have you ever used any of these products?  I’m seriously contemplating the eyeliner and the mascara.  Go check em out!
