Pinterest Update! 2014 Fall Fashion

I am not a fashion blogger.  In fact, for a long time, I never understood how fashion bloggers take those really professional photos. Like, is that a real photographer behind that lens or her boyfriend?  Luckily, my bloggy friends finally informed me that yes, sometimes it is her boyfriend, and other times it’s a tripod camera.  A milkawhat?

This is one of the main reasons that I love pinterest.  Even without all the fancy technology, I can still pretend to know a thing or two about the fashion industry.  In fact, my fall fashion board is my only pinterest board currently hovering above 100 pins.  If you’ve been around here for a little while, you are aware of my slight obsession with keeping pinterest boards within 100 ole images.  It’s the only way that I will continuously reference them for inspiration.  Admittedly, with all the latest and greatest outfit threads, it’s hard to limit myself, especially when I am in a pinning frenzy.  This is why I enforce my pinterest fashion golden rule: I only pin images that remind me or include articles of clothing in my own wardrobe.  It helps keep me sane.

When I glanced at my fall fashion board recently, I was excited to see a few things that popped out at me that I knew I wanted to rock this season.  So, I decided to put together a little fall fashion show.  I mean… Why not??!  Even if I can’t play with the big girls, at least I can give it a shot!  A big thank you to my “photographer”; apparently we can’t do this stuff without y’all.  Boots and pants!

1. Color Inspiration – I loved this yellow dress styled with an oversized scarf.  I loved it even more when I realized that I have one in a very similar color in my own closet.  Since my dress is strapless, I paired it with a cotton blue jacket.

2. Close, but not quite: Damn, leather has been hot these past couple of years.  Unfortunately, I never made the splurge on any actual piece of leather clothing.  Luckily, however, this pinterest pic reminded me of some plain old black pants and top that I had lying around in my dresser.  Thrown together with some neon pink pumps, I was feeling spicy!

3. But what do I do with all those summer dresses? For a long time, I never knew what to do with my summer wardrobe once fall crept around.  In fact, most of my pieces hibernated for the winter time until I could show them off with a little skin. Enter: the sweater.  Thrown on top of a lazy summer dress, it’s an instant two outfits in one.

ps. None of these retailers have any idea who I am.  I just like their clothing and enjoy showing off some of their threads!

Youthful Makeup to Keep You Up All Night

Ola y’all!  I just returned from a cruise with a stop over in Mexico so excuse the ole espanol.   Also I apologize for going a little off radar; wifi was hard to come by while sailing the ocean waters.  Today, however, I’m excited to share with you some great new makeup products from an unexpected source: the one and only One Direction.  If you like what you read below, please check out their facebook page!

I received a free sample of One Direction Up All Night makeup kit for use in connection with this blog.  All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

It’s not every day you hear that a boy band is coming out with a makeup line.  So when Brand Backer approached me about trying out One Direction’s Up All Night line, I said yes because 1. free makeup and 2. I was planning on being up all night, very soon, to celebrate my 28th birthday bash.

The makeup set arrived in the mail in a cute little tin box with a description of each of the included products.  I was happy to see mascara, eye liner and eye shadow on the list since I use these items on the regular.  For my birthday look, I also snatched up the pink lipstick and lip gloss.

After applying my normal foundation and bronzer, I glided on some of the blue and turquoise sparkly eye shadow.  I don’t normally use a lot of color on my eyelids, but I thought this looked fun and wasn’t too overwhelming.  The eye liner was also a cute addition and provided great coverage with limited application.

Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed by the mascara.  Even after applying several coats, my eyelashes still looked thinner than Paris Hilton.  Luckily, I still had my Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara from the Influenster Vox Box so I threw on a few coats of that luscious stuff and considered my eyes complete for the night.

Leveraging each of the products in the set, I threw on a coat of the I Should Have Kissed You pink lipstick and Taken sparkly pink lip gloss.  I mean with names like that – how could I not give them a try??!  The blue eye makeup and pink lipstick combination definitely upped the ante on my youthful look for the evening.

Overall, I had a lot of fun trying on One Direction’s Up All Night makeup line.  Leaving the mascara out of the discussion, I thought that each of the products was of high quality and contained fun colors!  If I was purchasing a makeup set for a young adult or teenager, I would definitely consider purchasing One Direction’s Up All Night kit.

Now, on to random pictures of my face.
